Ding Liren officially lost to D Gukesh on time in the Round 3 of World Chess Championship 2024, but it was the 18-year-old Indian Grandmaster’s excellent preparation and confident game that allowed him to win his first match.

At just 18 years old, Gukesh is setting out on an ambitious journey to become the youngest world chess champion in history. He faces Ding Liren at Singapore's Resorts World Sentosa in a championship that traces its roots back to 1886.
