Dickies clothing brand is moving from Texas to California, marking a rare corporate switch after several companies relocated from California to the southern state. Dickies, the iconic workwear manufacturer founded in Fort Worth more than century ago, is moving headquarters to California. The move will impact about 120 employees in Fort Worth, but Dickies will still maintain a “strong employment presence” here.

Amid the great “California exodus” when major companies like Chevron, AECOM, CBRE and all of Elon Musk’s biggest businesses are moving their headquarters from the Golden State to Texas, workwear brand Dickies is opting for the exact opposite.

Dickies, a storied 102-year-old Fort Worth-based clothing company specializing in tough workwear, is leaving Cowtown for the West Coast.

The move represents a real estate consolidation by VF Corp., which owns Dickies and Vans as well as outdoorsy brands the North Face, Timberland and JanSport.

Dickies, one of the best known workwear brands in the country, will move its headquarters from Fort Worth to Costa Mesa to be with street wear icon Vans, its sister brand.
