NEW YORK -- The New York City Police Department's newest commissioner, Jessica Tisch, is set to be sworn in Monday. Tisch will become the second female commissioner in the NYPD's 179-year history, and the fourth person to lead the department under Mayor Eric Adams.

Tisch, who until days ago was sanitation commissioner, takes over a department that has had tumultuous leadership changes.

New York Mayor Eric Adams appointed Jessica Tisch, who currently is the city's sanitation commissioner, to lead the New York City Police Department.
