In a show of strength, leaders of the INDIA alliance, comprising the JMM, the Congress, the RJD and the Left, reached the Raj Bhawan in Ranchi where the incumbent chief minister, Soren, tendered his resignation to assume the office once again.

Hemant Soren, leader of the INDIA bloc, has been elected as the legislature party leader in Jharkhand. He met with Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar and staked claim to form the government after his alliance secured 56 seats in the Assembly elections.
